The St. Croix County Historical Society has a large collection of over 4,000 historic photographs of people and places in St. Croix County. Reproduction photos or scans from the collection are available for purchase for personal display and limited commercial use.
Dating from the mid-1800s to the 1950s the photos in the Historical Society’s collection are primarily of the Hudson area and include street scenes, buildings, people, lumber, railroad, farming, school and much more.
A selection of the more popular photos are available for viewing online, however, the majority of the photos have not yet been digitized and require completing a Photo Request Form – so our research volunteers can search the collection to see if we have a photo(s) to suit your need.
Photo Use & Price: Photos are available for personal, office or business display for a Use Fee of $20 for one digital scan (or $15 when ordering 10 or more scans). The scans are suitable for 8″ x 10″ photographic prints at your prefered photo print store (such as a one-hour photo lab, Shutterfly, etc.).
How to Order a photo scan: To order photo scans from our collection please complete a Photo Order Form. After your order is received, the photos will be custom scanned and uploaded to our Google Drive. Then you will receive an invoice from our secure Square account. After payment, you will receive a private link to your scans which can then be downloaded for your onetime use.
Large Format Scans: Larger, high resolution, scans suitable for large format printing are also available at no addition cost, however, they require addition time for processing (1 -2 weeks).
Wrapped Canvas: Larger size wrapped canvas prints are also available through the Historical Society. Size and prices vary, starting at $35 for an 8″ x 10″ to $185 for a 40″ x 60″ wrapped canvas print (large sizes are available). The canvas prints usually require 2 to 3 week to complete.
Please contact us for pricing and details.
Commercial Use: Photos from our collection can also be use for commercial purpose (with some restrictions). There are additional fees for commercial use, such as publications (books, postcard, menu, etc.) or merchandise (T-shirts, mugs, etc.). Please contact us for details on other uses.
For questions or more information, please contact the Historical Society at 715.386.2654 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Proceeds from the sale of photo scans for reproduction prints support the Historical Society’s efforts to preserve, and expand access to, the photos in our collection.
Printing your photo:
You can have the digital scan printed yourself, on a home printer or at a one-hour photo lab, however, for a high-quality photographic print we recommend professional service through Kelley Gallery or Siiro Fine Art Consulting where they can consult with you to custom size and frame the photos to complement your space.
